Tier 1 — Must Attend If Possible

NVIDIA GTC 2026

  • Date: March 16–19, 2026
  • Location: San Jose Convention Center, CA
  • Focus: AI, deep learning, GPU, robotics, autonomous systems
  • Cost: ~$500–$1,500 (student discounts available)
  • Why: Jensen Huang keynote. Biggest AI hardware event of the year.

ETHDenver 2026

  • Date: Feb 17–21, 2026
  • Location: Denver Stockyards Event Center, CO
  • Focus: Ethereum, Web3, AI + blockchain, DePIN
  • Scale: 25,000+ attendees from 125+ countries
  • Cost: Apply for community pass (often free/low cost)
  • Hackathon: $500K+ in prizes. "Futurllama" AI track.
  • Why: Largest blockchain event. Networking = priceless.

NeurIPS 2026

  • Date: December 6–12, 2026
  • Location: Sydney, Australia
  • Focus: AI/ML research — the premier academic conference
  • Cost: ~$400–$800 (student rate)
  • Workshops: Competitions and workshops the day before main conference
  • Why: If you're serious about AI research, this is the pinnacle.

  • Date: July 6–12, 2026
  • Location: Seoul, South Korea
  • Focus: Machine learning theory + practice
  • Workshops: July 10–11 (competition tracks here)
  • Cost: ~$400–$600 (student)

ICLR 2026

How to Attend for Free / Cheap

  1. Volunteer: Most conferences offer free passes to volunteers. Apply 3–4 months early.
  2. Student scholarships: NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR all have free student travel grants — apply early.
  3. Diversity programs: Many events (ETHDenver, NeurIPS) have free passes for underrepresented groups.
  4. Speaker/workshop organizer: Submit a talk or workshop — usually includes free registration.
  5. Hackathon participant: ETHDenver, NVIDIA GTC hackathons are often free to enter.
